Versie: 10.04 LTS
Ubuntu 10.10 is de versie van het Ubuntu besturingssysteem wat is vrijgekomen op 10/10/2010. De algemene naam voor deze versie is "Maverick Meerkat".
Voorbereidingen
- Het is alleen mogelijk een upgrade naar 10.10 ("Maverick Meerkat") te doen met Ubuntu 10.04 LTS ("Lucid Lynx").
Voor de upgrade is het aanbevolen de (Engelstalig) release notes voor Ubuntu 10.10 te lezen. Hierin staan problemen en oplossingen voor bekende problemen met de nieuwe versie.
Als u een andere versie heeft dan 10.04 LTS kijk dan in de AlgemeneUpgradeInformatie voor de mogelijkheden een upgrade uit te voeren.
Upgrade from 10.04 LTS to 10.10
1. Internet-upgrade voor Ubuntu Desktop Edition (Aanbevolen)
Zo kunt u kunt eenvoudig een upgrade over het internet uitvoeren:
- Ga naar Systeem → Beheer → Softwarebronnen.
- Ga naar in het venster Softwarebronnen naar het tabblad Updates.
Wijzig Nieuwe distributie uitgaven weergeven in the "Reguliere uitgaven" en sluit het venster.
Druk Alt-F2 en type update-manager
Druk op de knop Controleren om de laatste updates te zien.
Zijn er updates beschikbaar gebruik dan de knop Updates installeren om deze te installeren en druk opnieuw op Controleren tot alles is geinstalleerd.
- Er zal een bericht getoond worden dat een nieuwe Ubuntu versie aanwezig is.
klik op Upgraden.
- Volg de instructies op het scherm.
2. Internet-upgrade voor Kubuntu desktops (Aanbevolen)
Direct upgrades to Kubuntu 10.10 are supported from Kubuntu 10.04 LTS only.

3. Internet-upgrade voor Ubuntu servers (Aanbevolen)
Install update-manager-core if it is not already installed:
sudo apt-get install update-manager-core
edit /etc/update-manager/release-upgrades and set Prompt=normal
- Launch the upgrade tool:
sudo do-release-upgrade
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
Een upgrade via de alternate CD/DVD
Use this method if the system being upgraded is not connected to the Internet.
Download the alternate installation CD from http://releases.ubuntu.com/maverick/
Burn the ISO to a CD and insert it into the CD-ROM drive of the computer to be upgraded.
If the ISO file is on the computer to be upgraded, you could avoid wasting a CD by mounting the ISO as a drive with a command like:
sudo mount -o loop ~/Desktop/ubuntu-10.10-beta-alternate-i386.iso /media/cdrom
- A dialog will be displayed offering you the opportunity to upgrade using that CD.
- Follow the on-screen instructions.
If the upgrade dialog is not displayed for any reason, you may also run the following command using Alt+F2:
gksu "sh /media/cdrom/cdromupgrade"
Or in Kubuntu run the following command using Alt+F2:
kdesudo "sh /media/cdrom/cdromupgrade"
Upgrading from a Torrent
If you're familiar with torrents and have an ISP that doesn't limit them, you can download the upgrade much more quickly. You'll also be sharing your bandwidth with other Ubuntu users and helping to reduce the load on the servers, which is especially beneficial on release days when the server overload causes problems.
Just visit http://releases.ubuntu.com/maverick/, and download the appropriate torrent file for the alternate installation CD, found in the list towards the bottom of the page. (It will have a filename like ubuntu-10.10-alternate-i386.iso.torrent.) Load it into your BitTorrent client, and after it is done downloading the ISO, follow the alternate CD upgrade instructions.
